I am passionate about helping people better understand how relationships and sex are connected to mental health. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink/polyam-aware, sex and relationship therapist. For many of us, sex is a taboo topic; yet it is a major component of our lives. For a lot of us, we have internalized feelings of guilt or shame about sex and our authentic sexual identities. This can greatly impact our mental health and wellness. When we develop loving relationships to ALL aspects of ourselves we can lead more fulfilling lives.
I strive to create a therapeutic environment for each and every client to feel heard, seen, and validated in the truth of their identity. Who are you? Who do you want to be? Let’s discover that together! It will be an honor for me to guide you toward creating the most fulfilling relationships of your life – and if you’d like, having a rockin’ sex life too!
Something I find myself saying a lot during sessions is “What function does this serve, and where is the pattern?” I hold the perspective that much of the choices we make, even if they aren’t the ‘best’ for us (think things like screaming at the kids when overwhelmed) serve some sort of purpose for us. We’ve learned that these things work for us in the moment, but often they aren’t sustainable. With my background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), my approach as a therapist is collaborative, skills-based and solution focused. That means you set goals at a pace that feels comfortable to you. I will guide you to discover the negative patterns in your behavior, moods and relationships and you choose where we start. We use this to help you make changes so that you can become the best version of yourself!
