Barbara Mucherino Plavnicky is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has spent her career working with adolescents. With a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, she has done clinical work at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington as an intern, and has worked with individuals, families, couples, students as well as other agencies and providers including DCF. Barbara has worked with a full spectrum of psychiatric disorders and has worked with clients dealing with substance abuse, anxiety, depression, dissociative identity disorders and, most recently, eating disorders. As a former adjunct professor, Barbara has advocated for students in the downtown New Haven community at Gateway Community College and continues to enjoy working with college students. Her emphasis is on person centered counseling utilizing mindfulness/DBT techniques, CBT and coping skills and she also utilizes solution focused therapy.
